Woodlawn WeTHRIVE! team is a 2026 WeTHRIVE! champion!

In Woodlawn, thriving isn’t just a goal—it’s a shared commitment, led by a WeTHRIVE! team that ensures everyone, regardless of background or circumstance, has a real opportunity to belong, engage, and succeed.

The team is described as unstoppable. It embodies what it truly means to be a community champion—by showing up, stepping in, and standing out, together.

“Working with the Woodlawn WeTHRIVE! team has been a joy,” says Katherine Togher, WeTHRIVE! population health specialist. “The team is full of energy and ideas and is always looking for ways to serve Woodlawn.”

Each member of the team contributes in their own way

Mary Wagner’s unwavering commitment to a community garden has created a legacy of consistency and care. Even as participation fluctuated, she remained dedicated, year after year. Village council honored her impact by naming it Miss Mary’s Community Garden. (Read more about the garden in our recent story.)

Cofi Higgins has transformed access to resources into real-life impact. Through her ongoing partnership with FreeStore Foodbank, she not only brings food into the community, but teaches residents how to turn those ingredients into nourishing, flavorful meals.

Paula Sherman’s leadership as director of parks and recreation has ensured the team has a reliable, welcoming space to meet, plan, and grow. She also focuses on increasing community interest in the village recreation center.

William Michael Wallace’s expertise in gardening logistics has elevated the team’s effectiveness, helping members plant with purpose and avoid missteps. His generosity in sharing produce extends the impact even further.

Pamela Fitzgerald strengthens the team’s reach by connecting efforts to broader community events and resources. She focuses on maximizing participation and awareness.
