Early care and education providers are uniquely positioned to help young children and families build habits that can have a lasting impact on their health.

WeTHRIVE! Early Care and Education Initiative

The WeTHRIVE!℠ Early Care and Education (ECE) Initiative, re-launched in February 2024, is a FREE program that helps early care centers and in-home early care providers identify and implement strategies related to:

Black circle with television icon.
Gold circle with tooth icon.
Blue circle with garden tools icon.
Pink circle with breastfeeding baby icon.

Benefits of participating

  • Yearly menu audits and recommendations by a registered dietitian nutritionist.
  • Support to achieve the Ohio Healthy Program and Breastfeeding Friendly designations.
  • NAPSACC assessments to identify strengths and opportunities to improve one of the six main strategies (nutrition, physical activity, farm to table, breastfeeding/infant feeding, and screen time).
  • Free Ohio Approved early care and education training hours.
  • Opportunities to network with other WeTHRIVE! communities, schools, and community partners.
  • Recognition through WeTHRIVE! social media, website stories, and local news.

Steps as a WeTHRIVE! ECE Provider

Eligibility requirements

To participate, early care providers must be:

  1. Licensed in the State of Ohio
  2. Located in Hamilton County, outside of the City of Cincinnati
  3. One of the following:
    • Child Care Center
    • Family Child Care Type A Home
    • Family Child Care Type B Home
    • Ohio Department of Education (ODE) Licensed Early Care and Education program
