Golf Manor resident always ready to serve her community

It’s Day 2 of Champions Week! Today we’re honoring Gwen Chesser of Golf Manor as the 2023 WeTHRIVE! Champion for Service to the Community.

Gwen is always one of the first to show up for events and she never seeks praise or gratitude from others for her work. The person who nominated Gwen for this award says that she represents the best of what WeTHRIVE! can be in a community – where residents can come together to build a healthier neighborhood for all – and deserves to be recognized for all her contributions, even if she’s not in it for the glory.

Gwen is not only an active member of the WeTHRIVE! team, but she also makes sure to bring family and friends in on the action. When she is first to show up for a meeting, she’ll be on the phone calling her sister Phyllis or neighbor Diane to make sure they join her for the evening. In bringing her granddaughter along to different events and making sure to include others, Gwen is a great example of how to implement healthy behaviors and engage in community connection.

Gwen embodies what it means to be a WeTHRIVE! champion.
