Elmwood Place mayor is a WeTHRIVE! champion

It’s day four of Champions Week! Today we meet Ron Spears, Jr., winner of the 2024 WeTHRIVE!℠ Champion Award for Service to the Community.

“The Service to Community award is given to an individual who goes above and beyond by giving back to the community and considering the needs of every community member,” says Mary Ellen Knaebel, director of Health Promotion and Education with Hamilton County Public Health.

Elmwood Place Mayor Ron Spears, Jr., was awarded the 2024 WeTHRIVE! Service to Community award at the annual WeTHRIVE! Recognition Event in December 2024.

In his role as mayor of the WeTHRIVE! community of Elmwood Place, Ron worked hard to help re-build the Elmwood Place Police Department, clean the streets of junk vehicles, get water established in the firehouse, and assist the village office manager on projects to improve parks. You might see him out directing traffic or overseeing street repairs, but he’s busy behind the scenes as well, networking to bring new industry into the village.

His job as mayor is just one of the ways that Ron showcases his dedication to serving the community. The person who nominated him for this award says that Ron is always doing repairs to keep things working, giving his own time, money, and knowledge to get the job done. They wanted to acknowledge all of Ron’s hard work because, in their words, “He sneaks in, gets the job done and that’s it – he never asks for acknowledgments.”

Ron is described as giving. It’s clear that he is dedicated to giving his all to improve Elmwood Place for all residents, making him a WeTHRIVE! Champion.
