North Bend

The Village of North Bend accepts recognition at event on December 1, 2016.

The Village of North Bend (pop. 857) is located in the southwest corner of Ohio in Hamilton County, 15 miles west of downtown Cincinnati and 6 miles east of the Ohio/Indiana state line.

How North Bend THRIVES!:
  • A WeTHRIVE! Community: The village was awarded a WeTHRIVE! Community Mini-Grant in July 2013. Funding was provided by Hamilton County Public Health’s Healthy Kids, Healthy Communities grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
  • A Committed Village Council: In September 2013, Village Council amended its Charter to establish a permanent WeTHRIVE! Wellness Committee. Team members attended WeTHRIVE! Ambassador Training.
  • WeTHRIVE! Team Members: Patty Hartoin, Margaret Knapp, Marilyn Kramer, Deb Lindeman, Jeanne Mooney, Fran Romweber, Tia Ruehlmann, Doug Sammons (mayor), Lisa Sammons, and Rick Schultz.
  • Selected Pathway(s): Chronic Disease
  • Community Health Assessment: Hamilton County Public Health compiled and shared findings from a Community Health Assessment at a community presentation on February 20, 2016.
  • Grant to Enhance Playground: In March 2015, the Village of North Bend was the recipient of an Interact for Health Grant. The funding was used to complete the Presidential Community Playground located in the center of the historic village. The grant helped to build a pavilion/shelter (24 feet by 24 feet) with electrical outlets and lighting on the interior. The pavilion is used as a space for children and families to gather away from the heat of the sun.
