Don’t miss our WeTHRIVE! Community Event this Saturday, June 25. 

Growing Healthy Kids & Families: Come Taste & See will run from 11:00am until 2:00pm at The Word Family Life Center (693 Fresno Road) in Forest Park.

Bring the whole family, dress for the weather and wear comfy shoes. Here’s a look at what’s planned:

11:00am   Faith Daniels kicks things off with opening remarks.

11:30am-1:30pm   Take your “passport” to each interactive station

By now, you’ve probably heard about MyPlate, the new symbol for healthy eating, released last week by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA). MyPlate is divided into four sections: fruits, vegetables, grains and protein. A blue circle next to the plate is for dairy products.

When you sit down to a meal, your plate should look like MyPlate. Notice that half of the plate is fruits and veggies (French fries don’t count!).

This is a great place to start, as 75% of adults in Hamilton County don’t get the recommended daily servings of fruits and veggies.
