Are your kids eating SoFAS at school? The recently released 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommend that we all eat fewer SoFAS--an acronym that stands for SOlid Fats and Added Sugars. WeTHRIVE! is working with schools throughout Hamilton County to make sure they aren't selling too many SoFAS to students in vending machines, cafeterias and school stores.

It’s the start of a new year, a new decade and a new Black History Month. As I think about the many ways I would like to celebrate my heritage and culture this month, I can’t help but to reflect on the past. African Americans have a rich history in this country. Some of that history, however, has passed down a few unhealthy habits from generation to generation. I’m guilty. I know that I need to move more and make a conscious effort to eat more nutritious foods.
